Abhijeet Tamhane is the art critic in Mumbai's art world who is writing serious analytical weekly art reviews for the last decade or so. He is instrumental in developing the art taste buds of a common man by his educative approach through his reviews.
Apart from his regular weekly review essays, he has been writting smaller reviews and general interest articles on art, on the weekly basis for last four years.
Abhijeet has aslo written several catalogues in English (e.g. : the Delhi Art Gallery Catalogue- "Manifestations" : 2004., The Nehru Centre, Mumbai : special "guru Shishya" show : 2002, and several individual artists catalogues))
He has written In-depth articles (2000-3000 words) : on Dr. Sudhir Patwardhan , The 7 young contemporaries from Mumbai. He has done Ghost-writing for Atul Dodia (in Marathi), and 2 other artists on the subject "Me and my contemporaries"
He has had the one to one Interviews with artists like : B. C. Sanyal, Vivan Sunderam, Bose Krishnammachari, Jatin Das, Jitish Kallat, Laxman Shrestha, Prabhakar Kolte, Prabhakar Barwe, Atul Dodiya… and veteran gallerist Kekoo Gandhy, New Media artist Amanda Mcdonald Crowley.
Abhijeet has also done in-depth analytical coverage and written critical articles about 10th Triennale, many art Seminars, etc., written pedagogical Articles on New Trends in Art : Internet Art, Video Art, Video-installation, Installation, etc.

He has delivered several lectures on art, few notable Lectures are : on 'New Trends in Art' for the Professors of State-aided art-colleges in Maharshtra, (a part of the Government-sponsored Professor's refresher course) , 'Woman's representation in Art: past, present, and future' : SNDT college MFA-level., 'Reding through shapes : Art and the possible life and death of Hemant Thackeray', for Sir JJ School of Arts Hostelliers.

Seminars : on Picasso at NGMA (on the occasion of Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni's book release)., He was a speaker with Vijay Tendulkar, Sudhakar Yadav.
Curatorial Projects : 1) for National Gallery of Modern Art, in 1999, as a part of a section, "a critics choice" 2) Advisory role for Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai. 3) Currently working on a project : 'What made us different : artists after 1990s'
Book : forthcoming : currently working as a part of the project on the early 20th century artists of Bombay.

At Present Abhijeet Tamhane is wroking with Maharashtra Times, a leading Marathi Daily News Paper from Mumbai by Times of India Group. Political Science was his major at Masters Degree (Mumbai University. He loves Marathi peorty and drama.
