Kalavishkar is a charity institution. Its objectives are to Promote and co-ordinate art awareness programs, to assist upcoming and eshtablished Indian artists and explore the ways to get them platform. It is also a part of our aim to bring together Indian artists, artgalleries and art critics under one webroof and create Indian web art directory & help to organise art field to some extent. In pursuance of the above objectives, Website Kalavishkar.com came in to existence. Art Gallaries in India, Art critics/Historians /Curators, Art Colleges/Institutions in India are compiled here at kalavishkar.com for artists and art fraternity in general. Kalavishkar welcomes all types of artists here on Kalavishkar's website though we tend to lean towards the fine arts end of the spectrum. We are always open to suggestions regarding new type of art and artists to be housed here on our site. Kalavishkar supports organizations and art related events if it falls in line with our objectives.

Kalavishkar had conducted Workshop of Drawing and Painting for students who do not get formal art education in muncipal Schools:

In keeping with our objectives, Kalavishkar conducts drawing and painting workshop for school children who are deprived of art education in their formative years. One such workshop was organized on 1 & 2 may 2004 at Manekji Gazdhar School, Khar (W), Mumbai. Artist and Art teachers from various colleges and school were invited to guide the students in the workshop.Prof. Rajendra Patil (PARA) of J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, Shantkumar Hattarki, Avinash Mokashi, Shankar Sonavane, Meena Joshi were the artist who guided the workshop.

Some outstanding works were presented prizes by eminent artist Vilas Shinde. The objective of this workshop was to make the children at least art lover if not artists and spread awareness and importance of art amongst their parents.

Kalavishkar is planning to conduct Art Apprediation workshops in various colleges:

It is also on anvil to conduct the art appreciation workshops in various arts, science, commerce, engineering and medical colleges. The main objective of this appreciation workshop will be to demystify the art world and help in decoding the artworks in lucid language.

Kalavishkar's website kalavishkar.com was inaugurated by Hon. Shri Rajesh Tope, Minister of State (Maharashtra State), Renowned artist Prafulla Dahanukar and well-known Art Historian & Curator Dr. Sayru Doshi on 17.01.2006 in the presence of jam-packed crowd of artists and art lovers at Jehangir art gallery. Though kalavishkar.com is not even 10% of what it should have been, we decided to inaugurate it to facilitate us to reach to artists, art galleries and art critics for updating the site. The number of artists, art galleries, art critics profiled will increase as the website is to be updated regularly.

Kalavishkar, working in the field of visual art since 2002 had organized “All India Artists Camp” from 14th to 16th April 2006 at National Park, Borivali, Mumbai. Twenty seven artists from all over India participated in the camp. The Camp was organized to raise the funds for charitable activities initiated by Kalavishar. Kalavishkar had created non-commercial web-art directory kalavishkar.com for the artists community and it needs to be developed further. Kalavishkar had also conducted painting workshops in the schools, where art teachers are not posted for several years and intend to carry more such workshops for school children who are deprived of art education in their formative years. It is proposed to conduct art appreciation workshops in various engineering, medical, science and commerce colleges in all over Mharashtra and other parts of India.

Kalavishkar has also instituted “Artists Aid Fund.”. This Aid Fund will be utilized for supporting the unsupported families of departed artists and medical expenses for the artists who could not afford costly medical treatment will even be paid from the corpus of Artists Aid fund.. Artists Aid fund will be augmented from time to time. In the past Kalavishkar had arranged programs in Y.B. Chavan Centre, where fusion show of poetry, music with drama were performed. In future, Kalavishkar intend to organise more such fusion shows including visual art.
Ashutosh Apte, Amitesh Shrivastava, Anil Abhange, Chayan Roy, Madhukar Munde, Gautam Mukherjee, Madhukar Vanjari, John Douglas, Prakash Waghmare, Jyoti Hattarki, Ravindra Salvi, Raghu Nevre, R.B. Holle, Sanjay Sawant, Rajashree Karkera-Apte, Rajendra Kapse, Santosh More, Rajendra Patil (PARA), Sejal Kshirsagar, Satish Wavre, Santosh Kshirsagar, Shantkumar Hattarki, Sujata Achrekar, Surendre Jagtap, Vijay Achrekar and Ameya Jagtap participated in the artists camp and the atists who could not make it to the camp had donated artworks to the kalavishkar which are displayed in the charity art shop.

The Camp was inaugurated by Babanrao Pachpute, Forest Minister, Maharashtra State and Arunbhai Gujrathi, President(Maharashtra), Nationalist Congress Party. Poetry recitation by Hemant Divate, Saumitra, Nalesh Patil, Salil Wagh, Mangesh Kale, Shridhar Tilve, Minakshi Patil, Varjesh Solanki and other poets followed the inauguration function at 6.30 pm on 14th April 2006 at Auditorium, Nature information Center, National Park, Mumbai.

In this three days camp, artists worked in the open air, in the lush green lawns, under the trees and enjoyed visit to Ist century B.C. Kahneri Caves, Tiger safari and Boating. This camp was supported by Camlin Ltd and Hindustan Pencils Ltd

Financial aid of Rs.25000/- by Kalavishkar and Rs. 25000/- from Sangita Jindal was given to the family of a young artists Late Chatur More who passed away last year. This aid was given in the inauguration function of “Charity Art Show” at Artists’ Centre, Kalaghoda, Mumbai. The show was inaugurated by chairperson of JSW foundation Sangeeta Jindal and Urmila Kanoria of Kanoria Art Center. Sangeeta Jindal handed over the the cheque of Rs. 25000/- from Kalavishkar to family of the deceased artists and appreciated the noble cause initiated by Kalavishkar. She declared financial support of Rs. 25000/- from her side to the artists family in the presence of artists and art lovers. Urmila Kanoria also pledged her support for the cause and promised help to Kalavishkar for organizing any event in Kanoria Centre, Ahmedabad.
